FF Top Latest Poll Despite Cowen’s ‘Mass Murder’ Admission

The latest MRBI/Gallop/Boylesports opinion poll published in yesterday’s Irish Times reveals that Fianna Fáil still have a commanding lead over their opposition rivals in terms of public support.
This vote of confidence for the government parties comes just days after Minister for Finance Brian Cowen was clearly heard saying the government had a planned policy of “mismanagement” regarding the HSE with the intention of lowering the country’s population through a deliberately shoddy health service.
Mr Cowen’s controversial comment was made during a Fianna Fáil think-in over the weekend regarding the party’s plans to invade Northern Ireland, electorally speaking. A Q&A session with rank and file FFers was chaired by the Tánaiste along with Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan.
As the session finished, the Minister’s whispered words to Brian Lenihan could be heard clearly due to a technical malfunction with his microphone. Shocked attendees and reporters heard Mr Cowen remark: “This country would be grand if we could just get rid of about three hundred thousand people, then we’d have just the right amount for the next few budgets. Pol Pot had the right idea, the crafty bastard, but we’re getting there.
“That’s what the deliberate mismanagement of the HSE is about. Why did you think we put that looper Harney in charge of health, we knew she’d kill off a couple of hundred thousand. But listen to me Lenners, if you open your mouth to anyone about what I said to you today, I’ll kick seven shades of shit out of you. Ha! I’m so bullishly handsome and smart.”
The next day Mr Cowen claimed he had no “mature recollection” of saying anything to Brian Lenihan, “I’ve never said two serious words to that cinder block-headed moron in my entire life, I was disgusted that I even had to sit beside him. I don’t know what people think they heard but I was just coughing – I often like to cough in the face of my party leadership rivals.”
Opposition parties were quick to pounce on what they thought was an embarrassing admission for the government. Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny gave this statement to the media soon after Mr Cowen’s slip of the mike.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable, I’m speechless, never in my long career in Irish politics have I ever heard anyone talk so flippantly about the lives of the people of Ireland. Needless to say the entire government should resign en mass.”
Yet on seeing the results of yesterday’s poll, Mr Kenny could only manage this short statement: “I give up, I mean what’s the point? You people deserve these fuckers.”
In contrast to Mr Kenny’s defeatism, Labour leader Eamon Gilmore opted to go on the offensive. His statement perhaps reflected that the opposition have nothing to lose since the sitting government continue to have the support of the public even after admitting to a policy of state genocide. As such Mr Gilmore’s tactic was to criticise the government for not liquidating enough people:
“Who is the Minister kidding when he says that 300,000 exterminated will be enough to save the economy, which continues to go down the shitter despite their best efforts? Be in no doubt – a Labour Minister for Health would have targeted in excess of half a million for annihilation in our program for government. And Brian Cowen has the gall to compare himself to a great leader like Pol Pot? I mean, get real.”
